Forum Posts: 1364 Comments: 153 Reviews: 0 | It's been ages since I watched PoP, but I just found it on YouTube, and I LOLd at the scene where Rupert drugs his father. Great comic acting, and I love the line about respecting eachother's thermoses (03:06):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTvQEuICgzU&NR=1 Anyone who says Keanu's acting is flat and monotone really should see this movie. :-)

Forum Posts: 330 Comments: 131 Reviews: 0 | They really should see a lot of them, but that seems to be the problem, they're most of them so conditioned to having each little detail spelled out visually that they no longer can actually SEE what's in front of them if it's not exaggerated by the actors. "sigh..."

Forum Posts: 18 Comments: 1 Reviews: 0 | I love POP, and I think unfortunately the type of acting that is in POP and in some other Keanu early stuff like Bill&Ted, or River's Edge is EXACTLY what they consider the bad acting. It's not their cup of tea. I, however, love those the most. I think it's bold and, I don't know, it's just very alive, and there is that mixture of humor and sarcasm that is just great. I love Keanu's later works too, such as say Hardball or Sweet November. You know movies about this great regular guy type of movies. But those early ones I love the most. Even on a bad day like if I am in a superbad mood, if I pop one of those early movies in my DVD, like say Parenthood - I just smile. I can't help it:))

I thought it's usually his post-Matrix stuff that they target? Because the most common accusations are of him being wooden or expressionless, which isn't anywhere near descriptive of his earlier movies.

Forum Posts: 18 Comments: 1 Reviews: 0 | I thought they started after Bill & Ted saying that he is just like his character a dope head. And that he can only play well a dumb ass because well, he is dumb. And I find that rediculous, because the whole point of Bill & Ted is that though they are these "dope heads" they are NOT dumb at all, and turn out smarter than many other people. The difference is their attitude, rather than their IQ level. So, I thought this is where it started. And then the whole gay thing after I think MOPI just added on to it. I must say the character in MOPI is kind of strange. I like some parts of it. And love Keanu and River on that motorcycle. But the whole movie and the way it was written is a little weird for my taste. I think Keanu should've been more careful in selecting his roles.

Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | ... there's a poetry and a sad beauty about MOPI. okay, having watched Van Sant's 'Mala Noche' also helps seeing it. but none of these two movies are everyone's cup of tea. there's nothing conventional about them. except Scottie's final choice, maybe. don't know what made K take that role, but I'm glad he did. ;)

Forum Posts: 18 Comments: 1 Reviews: 0 | I also thought that he probably took that part, because it is unconventional. But after I listened to the commentaries on the DVD, it just seemed to me that the movie went way over the board on some things. It just was a little creepy. Like the whole father/brother thing. I thought that was too much. And that character that they met at the hotel in Italy. I thought was creepy, standing there, telling Mike how exited he was, while Mike is taking a bubble bath, behind the closed door. So, while I do get the plot of the movie, certain details I thought were too much. I also heard that Van Sant has written some book, where the characters are implied to correspond to Keanu and River. Not Scottie and Mike, but Keanu and River. I haven't seen it myself, but people on some forums were saying that it's a really, really weird and in some ways dirty book.

Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | eh, Van Sant is unconventional himself ;) and he likes to experiment. with everything. just look at the movies he directed/produced/wrote. 'eclectic' comes to mind. 'over the board' ? hmm, dunno about that. real life, out there, can be that way. even if you and I and others don't meet with those situations. doesn't mean they don't exist. didn't read his book. I might if I can find it, though.

eh, I do have this theory about not actually knowing the people around you, not even the close ones... unless they really want to let you 'see' them.

:) So... Should I get Prince of Pennsylvania on Amazon (is it really good?) or should I just wait for Vuze to finish downloading it in approximately one year? :))) How good is it? I mean, I went to this movie's page on IMDb and there are some great quote there. "You don't get to vote in my revolution" - not only this goes straight to the list of my Skype statuses, but I'd also love to see it spoken.
