http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00045590.html What is with him and the term "half breed"? :)
LucaM | 2011-11-26 02:47
Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | it's the term used by all the other characters in the movie when referring to his. At least in the early version of the script that was available on the net and which Ani posted on the site. Blame Chris Morgan ;) ... could be also a literal translation of the Japanese term. anyone here who speaks Japanese and could check that?

Forum Posts: 2836 Comments: 74 Reviews: 11 | @Luca, I was also in mind of his using that term in Constantine. That makes it a recurring theme.

Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | I thought of 'Constantine' the very first time I've read this term in one of his earlier interviews on the Ronin subject. I guess in Ronin the term is meant to be understood in its pejorative sense. In the same time, in terms of 'being a halfbreed is the curse of Kai's life'(or maybe a blessing in disguise, IF they left certain lines in the final cut) it could sound like a recurring theme. But the character's attitude and personality are different.

I can imagine Keanu wanting to make it a drama rather than an action movie; an internal rather than external story. I can also imagine Universal being totally opposed to the idea. Ye gads, I hope this movie doesn't end up as a choppy patchwork of action scenes, with a few amputated drama scenes hanging loosely and inexplicably in the air. :-(

Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | ... the fate of Johnny Mnemonic comes to mind. or more recently, of the Day remake :(
May I have the bits that will end up on the cutting-room floor? May I? Please? Pretty please? *big, pleading kitten eyes* (of course, since it's been shot in 3D, it's bytes, not bits, and it's not the cutting-room floor but the virtual recycle bin, but let's not get too technical, that's another documentary ;) . and the contents of said recycle bin would do just fine ;) )
