Oh, yeah! You are " definitely, mostly not" the only one!I feel almost the same.I even photoshoped myself into his photo (to my shame)and wanted to use it as my avatar but at that time you met Him and your really cool and REAL photos made me realise how stupid that was!So I put the pic in a safe place in my comp having a look at it from time to time and sighing sadly. But when I ask myself if I would like to be with Him I immediatly answer NO,NO WAY!You are quite right here. And you know what I've just thought about? We (we it's not only you ,me - that's most people)all want only to take! we want to admire his beauty, voice, spirit, even scars!we don't want to give anything! It's a complicated man with problems, a little strange ( as He said once "who would like to live with my black thoughts?") Who would really? That's why He (and peole like Him) are alone. He needs someone to take Him as He is(we all need). He needs a family because you need it more and more when you get older. So I wish Him to find such woman and the sooner the better!

LucaM - maybe it's humor.I know sometimes I take everythig too seriously, but I was talking about how strange we people can be( Keanu is a good sample of that)!Just thoughts aloud or maybe I am just in a philosophical mood today!

Hey Donna, that's not so stupid, I think it's kind of sweet and cute - unless you actually believe that there's a woman on this forum who hasn't wondered what she would look like standing next to him :) Furthermore, I believe there is reciprocity in this relationship: He fulfills our creative, existential need for an idol, and we fill his bank account. I know he's fabulous and all, but without us loving admirers, he would be nobody too, so really there's no need to feel stupid. And we give plenty at $12.50 a movie ticket, $19.99 per DVD! AND he can have all the black thoughts from my diseased mind that he wants, I don't charge a cent for mine!

I think knowing he's been hurt in so many ways makes most of us feel protective in a way. Haven't you noticed how many of his fans hug him? It's not just a kiss or a photo with him. It's like wanting to comfort him. I don't know. It's a weird feeling. It's not only his beauty or his wonderful smile that attracts us; it's something else which I cannot put into words. A sense of honesty, of being down to earth.
He's probably a difficult person to live with - there seems to be a lot under the surface. But anyway, aren't we all difficult at times?
I'm content with watching his films, photos, interviews, reading articles about him ans swatting. And dreaming. Because I'd love to meet him one day although I'm 100% certain I'd make a fool of myself!

@ adrianna--I often think of him as the original emo boy. No you are not the only one that has those ideas. Thanks for putting them in words.
Onboard with nafsunaek and Donna too. He does weird and wonderful things to us don't he? :)

I even read somewhere that one photomodel, with whom He lived for a while, said that He had such a disgusting nature, she then missed her dog more than her lover.

She didn't say he had a disgusting nature; just that she did miss her dog more.

And I wonder if we would be interested in Him so much if He was married, had children?

Definitely.

I'm now overtly wondering what it is that inspires Anakin so deeply as to venerate this man and even insist that people understand his graceful style. Even taking on the task of constructing a scenario in which Keanu would act his way out of a paper bag so hard that he would perish but with veritable triumph:)

The last time I fully explained how and why I became a Keanu fan, it ran over 1,000 words of essay. My attempt at the short version:

1) Writing about his characters (namely Neo and Ted) in fanfic started out as something fun, as a joke really; but after about ten months of this I became extremely attached to them, almost on a personal level. From there I began to appreciate Keanu as an actor, in particular how he had successfully played two such different characters.

2) Going online, I encountered people insulting Keanu's acting, among other things claiming that he always played the same character. This ran completely contrary to my experience as mentioned above, and I have a chronically unhealthy habit of getting into arguments. Before I knew it I was defending him and yelling at fish, and found other fans who were doing the same. This eventually led to the Keanu SWAT Team. We realised that people kept using the same unoriginal insults, so I compiled a list of counterarguments, decided to make a website to post them on, and thus WINM was born.

3) I started hanging out on other Keanu fansites and learning more about him. I liked what I read, and my respect for Keanu as a person grew. A few months later, Keanuweb shut down. Shortly after that, CK crashed, taking with it what was then the last existing Keanu articles archive on the Internet. I didn't want it to be lost forever, so I offered to rebuild it, and people - mostly inkhuldra and Fiercelyred - sent me the articles that they had saved. I recovered 840 from the CK archive out of its original thousand or so.

4) In the process of restoring the archive, I read every single one of those 840 articles and interviews. I became absolutely fascinated by Keanu's life and personality, and became even more of a fan. People still kept sending in articles, and I thought I might just as well continue adding on to the archive. I discovered other old, forgotten parts of the Internet with more articles, and salvaged those to add on. The archive more than doubled in size, and is still growing to this day.

...so that's the how. As for the why:

- first and foremost, I love his characters. Each one of them is to me a completely unique individual, with their own individual personalities, dreams, quirks... after writing about them, they almost feel like good friends. And Neo was one of the first movie characters I completely related to.

- I also love his films, and how they encompass just about every genre that exists. Looking at his filmography is like looking across the breadth of film history. So many of his films were cinematic milestones.

- He's not a typical Hollywood celebrity chasing after luxury and wealth. He acts because it's his passion in life and he loves it; not for the money. He doesn't need huge mansions; he's satisfied with living in a hotel room. He doesn't need racks of expensive clothes; he's fine with a basic, simple wardrobe. He wears his shoes until they need to be duct-taped to stay together, then continues wearing them. He's not part of the Hollywood celebrity machine. And that's refreshing.

- The insults he receives from all over the place often feel like straight-up bullying to me, and as someone who used to be bullied in school, it makes me want to defend him.

- Keanu is basically a constant inspiration in my life, and I have an extreme amount of respect for him. I'm inspired by how he survived so much tragedy and hard times and yet managed to pull through it all. He's my role model in many ways: in his kindness, modesty, generosity, politeness, work ethic, determination, thirst for knowledge and perpetual drive to become a better person, and when I grow up, I want to be like that.

Well said Anakin.
I often think (to myself) that I live in a keanucentric world. Interesting and reveletory through my never ending "research" into his choices.
He is one of the good guys and it continues to puzzle me that everyone does not understand this. Its a good teaching for me, on compassion, for sure.

Thank you so much Anakin, I feel like I’ve tapped into an isolated stream of genuine and original introspection. I appreciate honesty because it is not often encountered in the world or on the internet. The Hollywood Celebrity machine is revolting and Keanu is indeed exceptional. Your unfeigned respect and admiration for him helps me appreciate him for more than his soul-piercing eyes. For once, it also seems that it’s not about latent wet dreams and I’m impressed. Though there’s no shame in being part of that vast sector of the fan base. Mine started when I was forced to sit through A Walk in the Clouds (my first Keanu movie) by a Jesus enthusiast, fire and brimstone-fearing older chaperone. She loved romantic movies and insisted that I should be able to see the beauty of such a story, (I didn’t) but I saw the beauty of Keanu and so did she. I could tell by the gushing comments she made and the smoldering looks she gave him. I knew what this 40-ish divorcee was feeling, wanting, needing and missing in her life like a hobo missing a warm bed. I was scared because I felt she was bringing down upon herself the eventual slaughter of a wrathful diety who has become disenchanted with lascivious and immoral human beings. If women weren’t meant to lust, why did such men exist? I hoped the rules only applied to men. I was friends with her daughter who was about 13 and I was 11. She liked him too – mother, daughter and neighbor all melting in the same room from the same fire. I killed myself every day to repress such urges, disinfect my dreams so as to not incur the Wrath, but something told me it was too late anyway. My thoughts were never sanitary, I even had thoughts about a young priest when I was nine and I knew I was on my way down. It was a bad movie – I don’t deny that, but it was effective for all the wrong reasons. I had epiphanies that night that changed my perception in some very interesting ways. This is how a Keanu obsession is sometimes born, the spirit of Freud should have warned me then. This may be TMI for some, but I am compelled to tell my stories and give freely of my sincerity :)As always, Anakin you're amazing <3

Hi, everybody!
@Adrianna -your words (about girls like me) were really reassurant!
@Tangerine -thanks I'll think about that!
@Anakin - Sorry, but it was not my fault!I read that a few month ago and was in the same words (about disgusting nature)only it was a translated article (into my language - Armenian).I'm sure now the words added the reporter and it was a pretty good fish! It'll be a good lesson for me from now on to read about him only in the original. It's just as with "Street kings" - after watching the dubbed version I thought that the film is not good at all, but then I watched it without translation and I like it.
P.S.I think and I'm sure it's not only my oppinion you are the most real fan from all of us.No, not just a fan - Appreciator. We all love him in different ways but with you it's something deeper! What else can I say? thank you for your site and existing!

Nice, Anakin. I guess it was more or less the same with me. But you're so much more talented at programming and writing fanfics. :)

I'm sorry you were bullied. (Actually I had already guessed that you were more or less bullied after reading the Kenselton Hotel trilogy.) *feels embarassed* In any other school in the US, I would most definitely be bullied too, but I live in a county where bullying, gangs and drugs is total joke and are the stuff of faraway myth. I've never seen anyone be bullied in my life. :/

Random question: what should I name the random snail that appeared in the fish tank and now coexists with Bill, Ted, Klaatu, Constantine, BlooferLady and Lokifire? (I decided on names! :)

Why I <3 Anakin McFly:

- Keanu is basically a constant inspiration in my life, and I have an extreme amount of respect for him. I'm inspired by how he survived so much tragedy and hard times and yet managed to pull through it all. He's my role model in many ways: in his kindness, modesty, generosity, politeness, work ethic, determination, thirst for knowledge and perpetual drive to become a better person, and when I grow up, I want to be like that.

Ditto, Ani, ditto.

I'm sorry to talk about sex so much, I know it's tacky ;p Really, I do respect the man for a lot more than his physical appeal, but but he is REALLY physically appealing. I mostly respect him for his generosity towards cancer research. I just found out today that my dad's been diagnosed with liver cancer- you can imagine my love for people who are fighting this nasty fucking disease with all their hearts. BTW Anakin, and you don't have to answer but if your glorification of the man has nothing to do with his physical attributes, then really, what does this mean . . .

want. Keanu/Connie slash nao. :|

We love you Ani, it's all in good fun. ;) And I seriously need distractions right now.
