1) Are any of you up to co-running WINM with me? The more the merrier; mostly because it's kind of getting too big for me to do on my own, especially since I'm now making a concerted effort to keep up with all the new articles that pop up. I'm on holiday now and just managing, but once school starts again next year I doubt I'll be able to survive, seeing as how I barely made it last term and that was with the site much smaller than it currently is (and with a smaller uni workload).

It's mostly the articles archive that I need help with.

This is the current template for all the articles:

<html>

<head><title>WINM Articles Archive :: Title of Article</title>

<!--#include virtual="contentlayout.htm" -->

<b>Source (Country), Month Day, Year</b>

<hr>

<p><b>Pre-title content (if present)</b>

<h2>Title of Article</h2>

<span>(Translated from Language by Translator)</span>

<p><b>Pre-article content (if present)</b>

<p><i>Author</i>

<p>Article contents

(If there are pictures, include next two lines):
<p><br><hr>
<p><center><img src="images/picturename.jpg" width="400"></center>

<p><br><br>

<a href="articles.htm">Articles</a>

</html>

(Sorry ckage for putting images in <p> and using <center>. I decided it would be too much trouble to go through several hundred articles fixing it)

Then save it with title format YYYY_MMDD_xxx.htm, where xxx is the first three letters of the article title, excluding 'the'. If more than one article shares the same first three letters, then add a number after, e.g. 2008_1102_kea2.htm. (no such article, don't bother looking.)

Then upload into the /articles folder of the site, and list it under the appropriate year section in the format:

<tr><td><a href="YYYY_MMDD_xxx.htm">Title of Article</a> (English translation from Language (if present))</td><td>Author</td><td>Source (Country)</td></tr>

I currently have two spare FTP accounts for the webhost; so if you have spare time and at least basic knowledge of HTML, I could hand you an account or have a joint account thing.

Alternatively someone could just temporarily take over while I'm away on holiday, because the thought of the backlog (TDTESS reviews mostly) when I return kind of scares me. Especially since I'm kind of determined not to read the spoiler-filled reviews until I actually watch the film.

(And meanwhile my father wants me to come up with a movie trivia quiz gameshow for his office's Christmas Eve party like I did last year, which takes place three days after we return, in which time I also plan to watch TDTESS, so everything is kind of crammed...)

**

2) Film reviews! Thought it would be great to have more original content on the site, as a fish once suggested a long time ago... so if you've written or would like to write any review of a Keanu film, go ahead and send 'em in. (LucaM! I know you've got a Street Kings review up on IMDb. And Steanu has a bunch on his site.) So far we don't always agree on the quality of a given film, so the more the better - we can get a wider range of opinions and cover more angles.

Because the Internet seriously lacks reviews that critically and fairly assess Keanu's performances. Most either automatically write him off as bad without explaining why they think he's bad, while others go on about how they think he's hot and how they therefore couldn't care less about his acting, which isn't any better.

So yeah... objective reviews that give credit where credit is due, while admitting with actual supporting evidence when he gives a bad performance.

HI Anakin

I am afraid I don't have the time. I think I have told you before that I am an author and, besides actually writing in my free time, I have 3 books coming out in the next couple of months (end of Dec for the next one).

I can expect to have to do quite a lot of edits and then promo so this is just a bad time for me. However, if you ever have the odd task that needs doing and I can get it done in a few hours, let me know.

Okay, it's all right then.

I guess I probably won't be posting the reviews of TDTESS; seeing as how none of the articles in the archive are film reviews, with the exception of the odd piece or so.

The main problem now is that I can't access my webhost site; my ISP has been having problems with US servers. I can still edit the site and upload text files, but can't do the same with pictures because for some reason picture files sometimes get corrupted when I try uploading them through FTP.

No pictures to upload at the moment, though, and maybe by the time I get back the problem will be resolved.

Ani, sorry, but I don't know anything about the html stuff... I just post on forums

I could surf the net and bring you all the stuff I find, but unfortunately can't count on me for editing it in html... I can only 'fetch'.

but if there is any other way I can help... let me know.

film reviews, you say... yes, I do have one up on IMDb, and actually I'm quite proud of it
it would be nice to have our own review section , on the site... and given some time, I could write a few more...

and if I may have a suggestion... and archive folder for movie reviews would be a good idea..

actually... Anakin, if you ever try to archive the world, may I help ? we could make a great team... something like Pinky and the Brain ( you being the brain, of course )

no, seriously... when do we start ?

Sorry Anakin, I'm very computer illiterate, so of no help here. I hope you don't over-do it though: I wouldn't want WINM disappearing because it becomes a burden to you. On the bright side: adding articles will probably be not so much work as it was, since the archive has a solid base now, right? So it's basically just articles that come out when Keanu has a new film, and the translated ones. And as far as the German ones go: I have pm-d Ellie, but she can't help, which means I have to translate about 100 really large pieces. And considering I am thinking in Dutch while translating from German into English, well I'm not very quick at it. So, I think I'll manage about one article a week on average; better to go at steady pace than burn out, right?

Nah, the site won't disappear. At worst it'll just be kind of stagnant with infrequent updates. I've paid for the domain for a whole year, so this is staying up at least until 2nd September 2009, and likely for many years after that.

Yeah, don't rush yourself on the translations; there's no hurry. Some of them are really short though - there are a few just a paragraph long or thereabouts. Try to focus on the earlier articles and work your way up on there.

Thinking of adding another section to the site called the Keanu Movie Database, which would basically be the entire filmography, with links to their scripts, screencaps, online copies if available, and reviews. Am teaching myself PHP programming (printed out a tutorial and brought it to Australia with me) and once I'm familiar enough with that and have got my webhost fixed, I could have a section where people could just send in their reviews straight away and get them up on the site.

And will also be adding stuff to the character database thing, like so:

Name: Klaatu
Age: Old
Occupation: Alien
That's Not An Occupation: Yes it is.
What He Taught Us: If the Earth dies, you die. If the human race dies, the Earth survives.
*insert character analysis here*

And I totally want to make a T-shirt that says:

Everything I Need to Know About Life I Learnt From Keanu Reeves:
- Free your mind
- Be excellent to each other
- Don't go under 50.

Someone find me a good online T-shirt shop that does the printing and shipping on-demand.
