I like it better than the final version of the movie. some of the scenes needed to be cut, but all in all, the main characters are more believable. I like the comics versus physics references - what with all the pseudo-science in the superhero comics and all... I like this Lily better. I like this Eddie better. what is it with Hollywood studios that they always have to have a damsel in distress in all movies? and why did the producers think that having Keanu Reeves in a movie right after Speed means a need to capitalize on his 'hero' status ? 'cause it did a disservice to the story. both here and in Johnny Mnemonic. should have left the characters as written in this draft. it's not the 40s or 50s anymore... at least they've learnt this in the meantime  on the other hand, it was good that they rewrote agent Ford... it was good balance for the story. and the final title is more appropriate... oh well... can't please them all, right ? | ||

| Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | not necessarily worse , but different in an even more "cliche-istic " way. now while I admit this version of the script needed a combing and a serious haircut, what I'm complaining about is that some little hints and touches of irony didn't make it in the final cut. half of the interplay between Lily and Eddie was cut, so the "She's a physicist. I'm a machinist" line doesn't make much sense unless one really pays attention. besides, in this early version of the script it seems like Lily was the main character. they should have kept that, IMO. it was a change from the standard recipe. needless to say, it got rewritten. look at the scene/s at the astronomical observatory. not complaining about the actual rewriting - the part about Eddie being 'hot' had to go , at least after the casting. I mean, there's really no need to point out the obvious but why couldn't Lily be the one to know the place ? and so on. I guess my problem is I'm not very fond of the final movie, either. if these two versions of the story would have met half way, I think that would have made a better movie. maybe. water under that bridge, anyway | ||

I actually watched it back in the early days to see Morgan and was disappointed that I didn't get to see that much of him, but I enjoyed the thing anyway, even with that. Now having watched it to watch K, I still enjoy it  It's just fun to watch, kinda like Speed  | ||
