Allen revealed that Reeves plays a character in Toy Story 4 during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week. He also provided a tease of what Reeves' character will sound like in the film:

"New guys in it that are great. Keanu Reeves has got a great part. Actually, little inside story, even he said (gentle, wonderful guy that he is) 'This sounds too much like Buzz Lightyear.' And his character does have an edge to that."

When we spoke with Reeves, the actor talked about how he landed the role and working with the creators, “I got a call which was really cool out the blue from the lovely people at Pixar and the creators of this number, this edition, or continuation of the story. They pitched the character to me and then we spoke and they allowed me to kind of riff on it.” Reeves says he’s done four recording sessions for the film so far.

Naturally, Reeves is keeping mum about what part he plays in the film — after all, the film’s story in general is a bit of a mystery still and seems to evolved pretty significantly from when the project was first announced. At that time, John Lasseter was poised to direct and was teasing a “romantic comedy” storyline that involved Woody (Tom Hanks) and Bo Peep (Annie Potts). However, in the years since the film was announced, Toy Story 4’s original screenwriters (Rashida Jones and Will McCormack) departed the projected, Lasseter stepped down as director and Josh Cooley took over, and Lasseter left Pixar altogether this year.

The good news? We might have some. Sources tell us that Keanu Reeves, who joined the cast in November in a mystery role, is playing a character named Duke Kaboom, who hails from a place where discontinued toys are sent (we’re totally getting an original GameBoy cameo, aren’t we?). Apparently, Bo Peep (voiced by Annie Potts) seeks out his help in retrieving her sheep after they’ve been taken from her. So, essentially, Reeve’s Duke Kaboom is the John Wick of toys. This sounds promising.

Woody and the gang are getting some new friends in Toy Story 4 — and they have some familiar voices.

The first trailer for the highly-anticipated fourth movie in the series dropped on Tuesday morning, teasing fans of new adventures for Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). But what has people most excited: The new toys on the block!

First up is Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves. The actor is joining the franchise as a daredevil character who is friends with the returning Bo Peep.

“He’s the greatest stuntman in Canada!” Reeves tells PEOPLE of his character in the latest issue, out Friday. “Duke becomes an important part of [Woody and Bo’s] mission. They use his skills as a motorcycle daredevil, but what they ask him to do confronts his fear of failure. So he has to kind of face his fear in order to help the greater good.”

Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Tim Allen says there's "nothing not like" about his Toy Story 4 co-star Keanu Reeves.

The 66-year-old actor discussed Reeves, 55, during an interview Monday on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Allen and Reeves voice Buzz Lightyear and Duke Caboom, respectively, in Toy Story 4, which opened in theaters in June. Allen jokingly said the movie had "too much of Keanu Reeves."

"That Caboom character was pretty funny, right? I didn't like that. He was cooler than Buzz at one point," he told host Jimmy Kimmel.

Allen recalled how he and Reeves attended the Toy Story 4 premiere together. While at the event, Allen and Reeves discussed Reeves' titular role in the John Wick movies, a retired hitman.

"He shows up and I'd just finished [John] Wick 3. 700 murders in a minute. I've never seen more murders. He calls it a 'ballet of violence.' What does that mean?" Allen said.

Allen pitched his idea for how a villain might take out Wick.

"I go into this whole thing, 'Hey, Keanu. Here's what I would do if I was in the movie, if I was one of the villains. I'd say, 'Hey, look. Let's keep him out of enclosed spaces,'" Allen recalled. "'What I would do, is I'd wait until you come out of your house, because you have a little dog that you walk. I'd be across the street with a big rifle and I'd just pick you off coming out of the house.'"

"He doesn't even blink," he said of Reeves. "He goes, 'Wick would know you were there.'"

Allen ended by praising Reeves.

"He's the nicest guy in the world, which I hate. Nothing not to like about him," he said.
