I was choked last night when I checked the listings on my t.v. and found a new station called "OutTV", it's being billed as a gay and Lesbian station, they played this movie three times on it last night but unfortunately I don't have a subscription to it. I've tried everywhere to find this movie and I really don't feel like paying 45 dollars off of Amazon.ca for it but I just might have too.

ADMIN Forum Posts: 3075 Comments: 405 Reviews: 1 | Yeah, but I found it extremely slow moving. Though it got quite a lot of critical praise and has been cited amongst Keanu's best performances, so I guess it's worth checking out.

Forum Posts: 4842 Comments: 381 Reviews: 13 | I think it was supposed to be slow moving... and the freeze-frames were something I'd never seen before, not used like that.
At first I was intrigued by its strangeness ; it's not the usual Hwood movie. Then, after seeing other Gus Van Sant movies of the same period ( Mala Noche, Drugstore Cowboy) , I understood it better. Definitely worth seeing. ;)

Forum Posts: 30 Comments: 9 Reviews: 3 | When I first watched it I sensed the link to Shakespear (tho' I didn't at the thime know there was!!). Not a movie to out on for a rainy arvo flick but well worth watching. Not sure that I really like Scott (maybe he is more like his father than he wanted to be - self-serving).

Forum Posts: 102 Comments: 14 Reviews: 0 | MOPI is one of my favorites. I love the camera style with the freeze frames. I found that unique and fascinating.
I have an old VHS copy of it and I hate the description on the back of the box. It says MOPI is about "two young hustlers who discover friendship and adventure on the twisting turning road of life." Makes it sound like such a fun happy-go-lucky movie which couldn't be further from the truth. To me MOPI is one of the saddest, most depressing, heartbreaking movies I've ever seen. I wonder if the person that wrote that description ever even watched the movie. I also have a DVD version that came with a book with a collection of interviews and behind the scenes stories about the movie. Also some extras like some great deleted Keanu scenes. He should never be on the cutting room floor:(

There's 12 hours of never-before-used material from MOPI currently being shown as part of an exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. Read more: http://www.gagosian.com/exhibitions/2011-02-26_james-franco-gus-van-sant/ I hope they'll make a DVD out of it! 8-)

Forum Posts: 261 Comments: 17 Reviews: 0 | I hope this is the right topic to put this link.
I find a excerpt of j.franco's "endless Idaho" and I've extract a little part ( an excerpt of an excerpt). so I think it could be interesting do a comparison between the edited scene in MOPI and the making of the same scene in EI. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgEUhd0MfQ8

yes, it's interesting to see what the editor chose to use from the raw material filmed... and, as you say, which take was considered the best to define Scott. at this point, I wish I could see the whole 12 hours of it... also, from the series 'Scott, we barely knew you' posted by someone long ago at IMDb , another deleted scene :

Forum Posts: 2836 Comments: 74 Reviews: 11 | That footage of Bob & Scott is on the criterion collection edition of MOPI in the US. The clip gulbie posted was new to me. And there is seldom any keanu content new to me. This is what dreams are made of.
