I'm not gonna start defending the movie all over again; it is what it is, it could have been so much more if left alone and not meddled with by the studio; it proves once again that W.Gibson's cyberpunk stories are unfilmable except for when the Wachowskis use them as one of the inspiration sources for The Matrix .... it's been discussed here http://www.whoaisnotme.net/forums/view.php?threadid=54, and at IMDb in a thread that has probably been deleted long ago...

I refer you to Point Break, when he fights that gang of surf-thugs on the beach; to Speed, when he saunters into that coffee shop near the beginning of the film; and finally back to 46:36 in Johnny Mnemonic, when Keanu’s shoulder-sway escape still makes me want to tackle that sleepy robot-surfer and let him lecture me about Hamlet over a chalupa and some cinnamon twists.

Anyway, I just watched the film and I liked it. Yeah, it sure could have been a lot better - so much potential wasted, the casting was hilarious, and it alternated between cheesy and classy, but I liked it anyway. Keanu's "I want room service" rant is a classic! If teh fisssshhhh want emoting instead of wooden face, well, look no further. He really lets it rip! And the cyberpunk stuff is great.

I just heard the other day on a credible media source that governments are using trained dolphins to do underwater clandestine reconnaissance...so I guess maybe "Jones" isn't so unbelievable after all.

It will be fun to watch this film in 2021, I think.

It's kinda cheesy, yes, but it will always have a special place in my heart :) I mean, it's Johnny Mnemonic, are you kidding me?

Also, excuse my being a total fangirl, but Keanu has the pretties eyebrows in this film :") And for some reason he looks even more handsome with all the dark circle under the eyes and all that. Like at the end of Johnny Mnemonic and during that Lucifer scene in Constantine. I don't know. I think I'm being weird now.
