All of which is why it's heartening to see a film critic writing in the Guardian this week finally frame it right. I'm speaking, of course, about Keanu Reeves, who also happens to be the producer of Side by Side. The story of the last few years isnt about the "death of film," Reeves insists:

The debate isn't about whether digital is better than celluloid. It's about giving an artist the choice...about the individual's style. It's not pining for the past, nor championing a digital revolution. It's arguing that it's an exciting time for the industry.

But Tribeca has gone cheap with this DVD. Cheap as in quality and content; it cost me 30 USD with shipping and all. I would have bought it anyway, even if I had to starve for a month.(would have been good for my figure :D) But that's not what I'm saying. My complaint is that the image is of poor quality; and the 'additional interviews' include only 7 out of the 29 available on Tribeca's site.

these are advantages of internet: you can easily add something (and disadvantages when it disappears or doesn't work).

... maybe I should stop buying US DVDs... and get UK ones instead. it's a thought....
