Go early and plan on waiting. It will be an adventure Sephonae! Enjoy!
Isn't it a tiny bit funny that we came to a website run by someone from Singapore to read the post by someone from europe to tell us whats happening in NYC? :D It's a whacky whacky world.

The arguments between the directors are interesting as they all seem to realize the pros and cons of each type of media but with a run time of 99 minutes, the film seems too stagnant with just this one issue being the main focus.
The film is shot beautifully and Keanu Reeves proves to be a very competent narrator and interviewer for all of the big time directors; but the lack of variety in the topics these directors are asked about keeps this documentary from reaching it’s peak.

"just this one issue"
JUST THIS ONE ISSUE.
"lack of variety in the topics"
*facepalm*

dude, just this one issue is gonna change the way we perceive movies and tell stories FOREVER. (or at least until the next change ;) )
oh well. bitches gonna bitch.
(and I spend waaay too much time on tumblr :D )

and it's ITS. ITS peak.
effin' English grammar.

Sorry I'm always coming in late- thanks for sharing your movie review Lucam! Good to know that it's not only for the people in the industry but can be interesting for a regular movie lover like myself. It made me want to see the movie even more. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that it would be released in my country!

As for the article, I thought the whole point of this movie was that so many big time directors are discussing about `just this one issue`. If there were several issues, it gets everywhere and out of control, no?? (@_@)

robin - you're right, but then, any self-respecting wannabe film critic HAS to find faults, doesn't he? and if he doesn't find any, he invents one.

Hear, hear, LucaM.

It's obviously a pretty big issue. As my son and I visited the schools he was choosing between enrolling for college this coming fall (he wants to be a filmmaker), several noted that within the next year or two they'd be completely switched over to all digital equipment. What one teacher said that really impressed me, though, is that they seek to educate students on more than using equipment, but on how to craft their stories which, after all, is what this is all about.

Luca, thanks for sharing your impressions about the movie.

If we talk about critics, I just have to remind you how easy is to criticize. On the other side being creative is tough work and requires much more skills.

So it's no surprise he's gone behind the camera for the first time, producing Side by Side ,

... so it's no surprise that in the sweet year 2012 A.D. (or whatever year the Matrix has us believe it is), yet another journalist is too lazy to use google.
I don't know when this interview took place, but it must have been early in 2012. At that time, Reeves not only had produced Henry's Crime (uncredited with his own name, but producer nevertheless through Company Films) before even getting the idea of making Side by Side but was already behind the camera as a director.
sweet, sweet journalistic superficiality...

argh that article came out just after I'd finished painstakingly typing out the Australian version by the same journalist. -_- Content is more or less the same, but the NZ one has the bit about digital avatars...

based off an interview in which Keanu moaned about how they'd digitally added tears to his eyes in that final scene from Sweet November.
