You're good Neaura, didn't even have any results. But yeah, that pretty much sums up my luck in a nice little story xD in light of this new discovery though I do find it necessary to state that I do NOT do drugs, despite the implication my username gives my teenager is showing....

Hey thanks for looking it up!
You know what? I'm not accustomed to social media but I think the only person you need to answer to is your conscience (and your loved ones). You needn't actually STATE anything as long as you know you are doing the right thing. What your actions are in real life is more important than a profile and something tells me you are a smart kid :-D

Did that sound cheesy?

ahaha.

Drop me an email or something with whatever you want it changed to. :)

Never done drugs either, never plan to. Although given that it's illegal here and importing drugs carries the death sentence, the temptation isn't really there...

considering he looked away laughing

Huh. Well, you may not be missing out on too much character-wise, then. His loss.

I do understand the temptations, and I also understand getting tongue-tied. I once looked into the eyes of a man so beautiful that I lost my powers of speech and just stared at him like an idiot. So I get it, believe me. You didn't do anything wrong, even if there was a silly look on your face. Maybe that tells you that something to think about in the meantime is getting more confident in who you are. Focus on what's best for you - challenges, talents, passions - and the awkwardness will eventually go away, or at least dissipate enough that it won't be a hindrance and you'll find yourself attracting like-minded people who appreciate your Matrix geekitude. Like us, for example.

@Neaura, nah, it's not too cheesy ;) I don't know, sometimes I feel the need to explain myself, even if only to myself

@Ani, thanks, and that is certainly a good reason...

@allhailkingjack, hmm... Geekitude.... New favorite word :) and true indeed, thank you all for existing!

Etudes - Short, complicated looking little things. Tend to be of a rather fast pace. Multiple runs and accidentals scattered everywhere. Requirement for Allstate auditions. Make freshman squirm. *sigh*

Speaking as a former All-State chorus member, I know the best thing you can do is to practice the bejesus out of those things. The more you practice, the less nervous you'll be. Hit 'em head on, and for goodness' sake stop speaking fear and negativity. Good luck. :)

Professional musician here, been making a living at it for about 35 years, and agree with Jack: practice, practice, practice! you can overprepare, but it's better to do that. And best of luck to you - whatever happens, remember that judges are human and fallible, it says nothing about you as a musician!

Thanks! I'm actually a church organist, choir director, music minister. I play all keyboards, some percussion, do some composing. It's really a good gig in the right place!

Thanks! Good luck, Spirit! Thank you BICT22!

Remember, Spirit, practice S L O W L Y to begin - if you can't play it slowly, you can't play it fast. Work tempos up by small degrees until you are at tempo. You will be AWESOME!!!

I sure hope. Agree completely with the tempo thing, I couldn't play this fast right now if my life depended on it. I'm starting private lessons on Thursdays, so that should help.

In other news... I am oddly happy with it being NOVEMBER 5TH!!! To the fandoms!

oh, Spirit, also sightreading. I've been sightreading everything I can find for 40 years and it REALLY helps. I get lots of jobs that others refuse because of that - don't know if you're thinking about music as a career, but that's worked for me.

I must definitely intend to keep it in my life, plausible as a career. Sight reading is one of the requirements for the auditions, and will undoubtedly be the hardest part, as the are only so many ways you can prepare for it. (playing like every thing being one).

You can prepare for it, though, by doing exactly what my lady advised. You won't know the piece they'll give you in the audition, but sightreading whatever else you can will definitely make you better and give you a possible edge over the other auditioners. Her advice works, trust me. :)

Thank you. There have been times when there were other performers with far more technical proficiency than me, but who sucked at sightreading, and I got the job.
