2007 - 2008 UPDATES

30th November 2008

Fairly slow month because people have been busy with NaNoWriMo, but all the same the fics now total at 988 - just 12 away from the thousand mark, which should probably be hit by the end on 2008.

Got the first new poetry fic in ages -> November 12, 1955 by Radioactive Nerd. In addition to his usual Animated Series fics, he's also got one non-TAS fic: Wii Would Like to Play, where Doc and Marty have fun with a Nintendo Wii they get from the future. For this month's TAS set he's written the double-feature When Scientists Collide - where Doc faces off with another scientist in a contest to prove who is better - and Jules' Birthday Crash, where Jules' attempt to please a girl results in unforeseen consequences; Education Issues, where Verne's school difficulties turn out to be due to dyscalculia; Mafia Madness, where the Brown kids and Marty head to 1926 to check out the gangster scene; Very Fortunate, when a trip back to the Great Depression causes Jules and Verne to better appreciate the lives they have; and lastly Just Say No, where Jules learns (with the help of a little trip to the future) the consequences of taking up a smoking habit.

Continuing the food theme, two fics from orangepencils short story series: the Part 3 filler Coming Back in Time for Scones which has the Browns leave on their first time travel trip as a family, and Apple of My Eye following shortly after that, where Marty realises how good it is to be back home again with Jennifer.

For bttf4444's NaNoWriMo this year, she has written a two-parter fic, the second of which - Back to His Youth - is up now, detailing the events that ensue when Marty Jr goes back in time to when his father was his age. Meanwhile, from AnonymooseAu there's the drabble November, and the one-shot fic Worth a Thousand Words, where a short trip to the future doesn't go as smoothly as expected.

November brings two new writers with one fic each - Untitled BTTF story by Guitar831, about an original character named Kyle Newman who replaces (the unsuspecting and strangely non-existent) Marty as Doc's friend and fellow time traveller. Then there's Second Kid by Wonder1234, which currently involves Marty Jr and Marlene in school in 2015 just before a school assignment for all of Hill Valley High to re-enact the 50s for a week; the mysterious "Matt Brown" of the summary is nowhere in sight.

And that's it for now. Happy belated Thanksgiving to all in the US. I still think it unfair that you actually get a holiday that revolves largely around the eating of turkey.

2nd November 2008

The new and improved search engine on FanFictionNet apparently now turns up a whole lot of new fics for 'back to the future', which bttf4444 informed me about. This means a whole chunk of new fics - total of 46 added to the directory this month, 11 of which are crossovers.

Starting with the slash for once, three Doc / Marty fics. First there are Joining of the Minds and Falling Through a Rift in TIme by usedusername, the first non-untitled fics by this author. In the first, Doc tests his mind-reading device on Marty and gets to read the teen's innermost thoughts; the second is an alternate extended take on BTTF2, where Marty and Doc, stranded in 1985-A, struggle with changing memories and increasingly forgotten relationships. The third fic is Back to the Future - A Story About Love, Sex and Time Travel (fic is split into four parts accessible from the LJ slash comm), bttfimjfifan's rewriting of the entire trilogy in a slash context.

From Radioactive Nerd there's the last of the Season 3 Animated Series fics, Marty's Graduation, when Doc accidentally forgets to be there for one of the most important events in his best friend's life; a non-TAS fic about young Doc, Missing, and the first of the Season 4 fics, Back to the School, where Jules and Verne start their new school years in the tenth and fifth grade respectively. There's also a deleted scene from that fic.

After ages of inactivity, orangepencils has made a return with a nice set of food-themed vignettes entitled Never Letting You Go: Friendship as Long as Time... and Soup, Tea Makes it Better, Muffins for Your Thoughts, Potatoes Make You me and Baby and Coffee Shop. The series is mostly Doc centered, with the exception of Coffee Shop.

For this year's NaNoWriMo, EmmettMcFly55 is writing The Junction Point Part One, a revisting of his script fic of the same title which appears to have been deleted. He's also written Waiting For Lightning, a short fic about Doc's thoughts while Marty was down on the ground with the Almanac. New writer King Rat arrives with Revolutionary, which is currently too short for me to figure out what it's about but apparently it has something to do with the Revolutionary War.

AnonymooseAu has another lot of Flash 88 fics, all accessible from this page: Garage, Pepsi, Spring, Science Fiction, Dogs, Milkshake, Parents, Cemetery, DInner, Density, Why? Life, and Smoking. From bttf4444: Back to My Youth when Marty McFly Snr wishes to relieve his days as a teenager; Dazed of My Youth in which five characters are de-aged ten years by one of Doc's inventions; two trilogy hole-fillers, Memento of the Future and Letter of Crisis, both dealing with the letter that Marty wrote to Doc. Also by her is the Halloween fic Cowboys and Fairy Princesses, and The Family Man, where Marty McFly Snr has meals with his children; and lastly Some Time, Same Place, about what happens when a log cabin is accidentally made into a portal between two years.

Whole lot of crossovers because of the new search engine, though some were posted in the BTTF section. Starting off is the joint fic When Two World's Collide by ButterflyMercury and her friend Jen: a crossover with Edward Scissorhands where Ed comes to live with Doc and Marty and has to learn to survive in Hill Valley. Kick Back to the Future is a possibly-gay or maybe secretly-straight Karate Kid crossover by Kay Illuser Spring that is kind of strange. From the sitcomsonline boards there's a Happy Days crossover by Bea - Back to Milwaukee, and a Thunderbirds crossover by Race's Girl entitled Back to Tracy Island.

Back on FFN, Discworld crossover! just as creatively named Back to the Discworld, by reaperofthewinds. And with M*A*S*H, Back to the Future Part 4077 by XxSparkyxX. Just when you thought you'd seen it all, there's also a Kim Possible crossover by yellowmattercustard, It's About Time, Dr Drakken; a Treasure Planet crossover - Marital Advice When Worlds Collide by Tmyres77, a Hey Arnold crossover and Totally Spies crossover: Back To The Future Part IV and Forward to the Past, both by Farhan Tre'. Finally, another script fic - Running Out of Time by Paratech Industries, a crossover with (Real/Extreme) Ghostbusters.

That's it for now, and good luck to everyone doing NaNoWriMo this year.

30th September 2008

The database is screwed up. Stuff doesn't tally for some reason, and I don't have the time to figure out where the errors are. Ignoring that...

14 new drabbles from AnonymooseAu: A Week, What? Saturday, Birth, Main Street, Too Much, Bribe, Cake, Brown, Escaping, Summer, Manure, Crazy Drunk and Kick Me, all available from her LJ. Two drabbles from Flaming Trails - a crossover with Girl Genius, Spring, and a Clue crossover, Purple.

From the only new writer this month, snfan, we have Reality?, in which Marty finally wakes up to find himself home. Radioactive Nerd has another TAS fic, Anybody Seen Our Dog?, in which Einstein runs away one day.

From bttf4444 there are the fics No Time To Sleep, where Marty's twin suffers from insomnia and the two of them end up talking about their lives; What Has Happened Will Be, involving Seamus McFly and a young Emmett Brown; and a fic I left out previously, The Real Me, where Marty reveals his time travelling secrets to his girlfriend Jennifer.

No slash this month.

30th August 2008

Getting this update up a little earlier than usual.

First off, people changed their pennames. George McFly Au is now AnonymooseAu, and IndiAnnaJones1234 is now MrsO'HaraHamiltonKennedyButler, which is a whole lot less fun to type. :( From her we have the new fics This is It, a 1985-A Lorraine POV fic about her thoughts prior to her marriage to Biff, and What Almost Happened on September 5, 1885, a hurt/comfort piece about what would have happened if Doc had been shot by Buford; i.e. what happened the first time Doc went back to the Old West. From AnonymooseAu is Ripped From the Headlines about Doc's side of the story and his discoveries upon first arrival in 1985-A. She also wrote a whole lot of drabbles88 fics that can be accessed here: Middles, CPR, Slackers, Back, How?, Alcohol, Gun, Wimp, History, Ends, Lost and Guitar.

From new writer alicelecter is Like lightning, where a teenage Jules falls in love with Marty's daughter, Roxanne. The second new writer for this month is lithrael, debuting with a Doc / Marty piece entitled Building Coincidence, that takes place in a desperate final moment before Marty goes back to the future.

bttf4444's fic Looking Up has been split into its separate stories for listing in the directory: Always Something To Invent, To Gain Some Courage, Become The Best Me, A Year Of Great Opportunities, Hope In A Hopeless World and Living Life To The Fullest. By her this month are four new fics: The Greatest Gift of All, where Marty-A (now named Calvin) enjoys his first Christmas in the 'regular' 1985; two additions to the 'Marty Wept' series, What Happened? - which takes place upon Marty's arrival in 1955, and I Don't Want To Die!, as Marty prepares to face Buford Tannen the next day. Then there is Pox Ponderings, where a young Marty comes down with the chicken pox.

There's the usual offering of Animated Series fics from Radioactive Nerd: Movie Mishap, where Doc and Jules go back to the 1950s to watch a movie, only to accidentally encounter someone else; and Responsibility, where Verne realises that it's not right thing to do to solve all your problems with time travel. From WibSkelDS9 is Workin' Hard and Hardly Workin', a short fic about Doc's daughter and their relationship through the years. Lastly, we have Marty's Spring Break by LittleMana, where a seemingly uneventful spring break suddenly leads to Marty being dragged off through time again by a very familiar traveller from his future.

2nd August 2008

Slightly belated update because it's been too hot to do anything.

Only two new writers this round - Crazy Chick's Crazy Friend, who brings us Back to the Future: After The Long Wait with Doc finally getting to see his future best friend as a baby, and Do Something by squonk where the death of an animal causes Doc and Marty to see each other in a new light.

Radioactive Nerd has another slew of Animated Series fics, all based off episodes from Season 3: Trading Bodies, in which Doc and Marty accidentally switch bodies; Summer Lovin', where Jules gets a crush on a girl named Cindy; in The Yard Sale, Clara gets fed up with all the clutter around the house and organises a yard sale for them to sell off unwanted belongings, to be met with trouble when Biff decides that the DeLorean is for sale; Sick Day has the Brown family coming down with chicken pox; finally, in When I Was a Kid, Jules and Verne go back in time to see what their father was like at their age... only to end up jeopardising their own existence.

This is Da Vinci Speaking gives us a new take on how Doc and Marty met in Forward From Here, which eschews the usual explanations of how the two got together. In chrisfardell's The Lazerus Experiment BTTF Version, Marty and Doc hear about an experiment that will reportedly change what it means to be human. EmmettMcFly55 has also written a long vignette, Eastwood In The West, which fills in the events between the time Marty and Doc discover the DeLorean is out of gas and them meeting Clara.

Two new drabbles from Flaming Trails, Blue and Fixed. We have another Drabbles-88 fic, Strangers from shego2drakken, a crossover with Clue and The Shadow.

From bttf4444 we have four fics this month, putting her in the lead for most fics by any one author, just ahead of Flaming Trails: Confessions of a Rock Star, where Marty retires from his rockstardom to spend more time with family; Looking Up, a series of fics (crud should I count these separately? yeah probably. next update.) in which Doc, George, Marty, Calvin, Marty A, and Marty Jr all reflect on their lives as they turn seventeen; My Tiny Friend, a fic that shows how Doc and Marty met in the Hell Valley universe; and another Hell Valley fic, A Ray of Hope, where Marty and Lorraine spend some time with each other.

In this month's slash selection, two Doc/Marty fics: another untitled piece by usedusername, only implied slash this time, and One Week Without You by bttfimjfifan, also Doc/Marty.

1st July 2008

Okay, here goes the first directory update in which I actually link the new fics.

This month we have twenty new fics and six new authors. In no particular order, first there's The Untold Story of Marty McFly by Purple Shamrock 17. In this admitted crack!fic, Marty is emo, has a singing stalker, and some guy named Troy Bolton spontaneously combusts. It appears to be an RPF; although as far as I can tell, no BTTF RP are involved. Continuing on the emo theme but without the crack!ficness, there are the two debut stories by MoonlightWonderer. The first is finally hope again, in which Doc discovers a depressed and bullied Marty and comforts him; the second is Emotions though song, in which Marty is depressed and sings Evanescence's 'My Immortal' and other songs.

By another new writer Radioactive Nerd we have three Animated Series fics: Verne, where Verne runs away from home through time after his family forget his birthday; The Revenge of Mr. Wisdom, where Doc's old enemy returns to make his life difficult; and Woodstock:3 days of Peace, Love, and Marty! in which a trip back to Woodstock in 1969 leads to unexpected trouble.

By other new writer familyguyfan is Back to the Future 4: Biff Strikes Back, where Doc and Marty have to stop Biff from destroying the space-time continuum. Meanwhile, ButterflyMercury's Time After Time has Biff Tannen finding out the secret of Doc and Marty's past time travel trips. Lastly, we have the second Biff / Marty slash fic in the fandom, Split by jojosephs, in which the 1955 Biff Tannen is accidentally cloned and one copy brought back to 1985 to be hidden, where... things happen between him and Marty.

Moving on to the regular writers: In The Story of Emma McFly and Marty Brown by IndiAnnaJones1234, a pair of secret lovers accidentally end up in a year that plays a crucial part in the lives of their grandparents - 1955. By bttf4444 is One Big Step, where Marty and Calvin celebrate their eighteenth birthday; and The Perfect Dad, where Marty Sr. and Marty Jr. share some father-son bonding time over Father's Day and reminisce over the changes that time has wrought.

Following the theme of special days, we also have Future Dreams by EmmettMcFly55, a fic that shows how Doc, Marty and George each respond to turning fourteen. By me is the Matrix crossover Time Is An Illusion, where Marty discovers that his world is not all he thought it was, and the Speed pseudo-crossover in the form of the intentionally-bad crack!fic Speed to the Future! because I have been watching too many Keanu Reeves movies. Flaming Trails brings another two crossovers, both drabbles with the Doctor Who universe: Living Arrangements and Surrounded by Madboys; and a third non-crossover drabble, Last, where Marty and Doc square off in Guitar Hero.

Apart from the Biff / Marty fic mentioned earlier, the rest of the slash of the month is a Doc / Marty series of drabbles, Any Day by This is Da Vinci Speaking, who has also written the non-slash fic Forever, detailing Marty's thoughts while threatened with the possibility of death by hanging in BTTF 3.

Meanwhile, bttf4444's Time Travel Heroes has been completed.

31st May 2008

I remember when this was all orange as far as the eye could see...

It's now been a whole year since this directory was launched back in June 2007, so in celebration of its first anniversary, here's a complete revamp of the site. It's now a whole lot easier to get where you intend to go with a minimal number of clicks, plus - in homage to a certain BTTF website - it has made the transition from mostly orange and yellow to mostly dark and emo. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That's sort of what fanfic is about, anyway.

Convenient navigation aside, there are three other main additions in this revamp. One is the extended stats page, from which you can learn that, for example, on the Internet there are more BTTF fics with the word 'Future' in the title than there are slash fics. The remaining two additions are the complete listings of all the slash and crossover BTTF fics in existence on the Internet, arranged by pairing and fandom respectively.

Eventually I would like to figure out how to get some sort of search engine on here. As it is, the closest this site has to a search engine at the moment is its Excel database, which is really fun to play with but is annoying to download. I'm also attempting to think up ways to make this website more *fun*, although it being a directory and all, that's kind of hard. Quizzes? Articles focusing on BTTF fic? Suggestions would be great. In the meantime, I discovered a couple of old BTTF novels stored on my laptop that don't appear to be anywhere on the Internet. One of them is Trials and Troubles by Sora from the BTTF.com boards - if anyone knows how to contact her, please let me know; and the other is a Quantum Leap crossover entitled The Leap Back. The author is unknown, and typing extracts into search engines have not garnered any results. If you know where this fic came from or who wrote it, let me know as well. Thanks.

...I'm still having trouble believing that it's been a whole year. Time flies. Like DeLoreans.

Okay, moving on to this month's update:

Eight new fics and two new authors this month. First up is Back From the Future by new writer cobalt-shadow, surprisingly the first fic in the history of this fandom to have that title. In this, Marty Jr. mistakes the flux capacitor for a car fuse, connects it to his car, and unintentionally ends up time travelling. Other new writer This is Da Vinci Speaking debuts with a Doc/Marty slash fic, Bolts of Opportunity Part III which give a slightly different take on the final film in the trilogy. The other slash fic of this month is untitled and written by bttfimjfifan.

EmmettMcFly55 has written a sequel to 'Future Travellers: Part 1' entitled Future Travellers: Part II, where the time travelling trio return to the Old West. By the same author is Your Present is Always Relative, in which Doc, stranded in 1885, reflects on the events that had gone before. bttf4444 brings a Mother's Day fic, My Real Mother, in which Lorraine gets treated to lunch by her twin sons. Lastly there is a short humour fic by needles about the events that transpire when Biff Tannen gets a chain letter, and a drabble fic, Rain, by Flaming Trails.

Back to the Future: Truth and Future Travellers: Part 1 have since been completed.

2nd May 2008

Slightly belated update because it was too hot yesterday to do anything. T'was 33 degrees Celsius indoors.

I apparently missed out a fair chunk of Flaming Trail's fics; many apologies. That has since been corrected, bringing her current total to 123.

idefine777 has changed her penname to its inside your head, and has written two sequels to her 'Back to the Future: Sarah' fic entitled Back to the Future: Jump and Back to the Future: Truth. By new writer WibSkelDS9 is The Anniversary, a beautiful short fic about Marty McFly paying a visit to an old friend. From other new writers there are the Part 3 AU hurt/comfort fic A Race Against Time by musingpadawan, where Marty falls sick on the night of the festival, and Back To The Future 4: Meat My Granddaughter by Crystal-Beast-Onix Scorpion, where we get to meat Doc's beautiful, tough, psychic, interestingly-dressed, possibly-vampire granddaughter from the future.

Thanks to Flaming Trails for directing me to the Yuletide archives website, whose Back to the Future section contains two fics. The first is Biding Time by SteelNeko, which shows us that fateful week in 1955 the way Biff saw it; the second is Burn Out by Kumquat Weekend, which gives us an insight into Marty's thoughts that first night in the past.

From bttf4444 we have The Girl of My Old Home, in which Verne visits the past and falls in love with a girl he used to know; in As You Wish, Marty is jealous of Doc leaving him out of a family trip to Disneyland and wishes that he had never met Clara in the first place; Doc and Marty meet a troubled girl from the future in Blast From the Future; in A New Friend for George, George and Sherman Peabody become friends one day at Hill Valley Park; and Marty secretly overhears his parents in a restaurant on their first date in My Parents' First Date.

For this month's slash we have three Doc/Marty fics by bttfimjfifan entitled A Curious Place to Kiss, the curious place being in the DeLorean, In the moonlight and Marty's Wish. From usedusername is an untitled piece, also Doc/Marty, where the latter has been losing interest in Jennifer.

In the meantime, The Almanac Chronicles by Michael2 and Back to the Future: Sarah by its inside your head have been completed.

1st April 2008

Discrepancies corrected. The full database is now available for download from a link on the front page - this is basically the cheap version of a search engine. It's also fun to play with!

1st April 2008

It turns out that I missed a couple of fics on the last update; there was The New Boy in Town by bttf4444, about George and Lorraine's reactions to Marty in 1955, and Passing, a drabble by Flaming Trails in which Doc and Marty attempt to access 29th February in the DeLorean in a non-leap year.

Apart from that, we have thirteen new fics for this month. New author IndiAnnaJones1234 has written Back to the Future 4: Biff Strikes Again! in which Biff, well, strikes again; as well as Good Ol' Uncle Joey, a diary fic written from Joey Baines' point of view that tells his side of how he ended up in jail. Another new writer DarthZoon brings the tale Three Broken Television Nights One thru Three, where a teenager is forced to enter the BTTF world and follow the characters through the films as punishment for breaking three television sets. Meanwhile, PaperShredder has written a paragraph-long first chapter of a story entitled Marty's Life Disappears, which has Marty getting nightmares about the murder of his namesake.

In the first script fic in quite some time, the last new writer for this month, Devil Master, has written Back 4 The Future, a sequel script that follows young adults Jules and Verne living in the present day. It's pretty good, though incomplete.

Back to the regular writers; Flaming Trails has a whole new lot of drabbles (although admittedly some were just those that I missed out previously): Middles, Missing, White, Years and Storm, the latter two taking place in a universe where Doc adopted Marty as his son. She also has a new crossover fic, Temporalnauts, which crosses over BTTF and Psychonauts. I finally wrote something after several months of inactivity - Smoke and Mirrors by Anakin McFly, where 1985-A Marty spots the DeLorean vanishing into the sky. We have another story about Uncle Joey: The Bank Robber by purplecat41877, and by the same author Original 1955 which shows what happened in the original timeline before Marty went back to 1955 and changed things. bttf4444 has written Thunder in the Night, in which 1985-A Marty - renamed Calvin William McFly - wakes up during a thunderstorm that triggers bad memories.

Among the completed fics are Capacitor in Flux by Eternal Density, Into the Future by EmmettMcFly55, and by bttf4444, Reality Escape, A Ticket to the Movies and Almost Christmas.

In the meantime, I have discovered several discrepancies in the directory - things like fics not listed under the titles list, and all that. This has resulted in some of the numbering getting screwed up, as well as the stats on the stats page - if my estimations are correct there are actually a few more than it looks.

However, due to problems such as my laptop getting infected with multiple stupid viruses (I thought I fixed it, but now it refuses to do anything but sit there and load me Yahoo.com after 5 minutes of waiting) and me getting a job, most of this has yet to be fixed; I'll get down to it over the course of this month, I promise.

To end off, here's a shameless plug of one of my other websites -

...because where there are BTTF fans, there are Bill & Ted fans, and where there are Bill & Ted fans, there are Keanu Reeves fans. I love the happy interconnectedness of my fandoms.

1st March 2008

For the month of February, the grand total of new fics in the Back to the Future fandom is zero.

And... that's it for this month. See you all again on April 1st.

30th January 2008

RIP Heath Ledger, and many condolences to his friends, family and fans.

Fifteen fics added to the directory this month, some of which were missed on the last update. From George McFly Au there's Nine Ladies Dancing, written as part of the Christmas writing meme that had been going around; also there's a fairly old fic just discovered, a Transformers crossover by Flaming Trails entitled Transformation.

EmmettMcFly55 brings two fics this month: The Mysterious Calvin Klein, which has the residents of 1955 Hill Valley wondering about the strange new kid in town, and Heaven or Hell?, an AU fic which shows what might have happened if Marty had managed to get the Almanac past Doc in BTTF2.

Five new writers have joined the fandom so far this year. Dunno50 has written Back to the Future Science Centre, a quick fic about the adventure that transpires after a trip to the science centre. XWhAtEvErX brings Back in Time, a fic involving the hiterto non-existent beautiful extra daughter of Marty's going on time travelling adventures with her best friend, Doc's granddaughter. Shadow Day, 1980 by GrossJam65 is about how Marty and Doc came to be friends; Time and punishment by Jarret91 is a sequel to the BTTF ride that involves the children of Biff Tannen and Marty McFly. Lastly for the new writers, Michael2 has written The Almanac Chronicles, which details the events that made 1955 into 1985-A.

Also added to the directory are the three free-form fics by scifitwin: The Valley, Pulled Kid Effect and The Baking of the Clam.

For this months' slash haul we have two Doc/Marty fics from bttfimjfifan, Christmas gifts and The ticklish Doc. Rounding it off there's The Stolen Child by Two-Headed Boy, an officially-endorsed Marty/OC fic that's an expansion of Geno0823's Midsommer Lost.

31st December 2007

Belated Merry Christmas to all of you, and apologies for the late update. The number of new fics from the months of November and December total 45, with six new writers joining us.

First off, there's Fob Watch by Lisa Moulton, a Doctor Who crossover. Kristen Sheley has a new vignette fic, The Easy Way, involving the events that transpired and Lorraine's thoughts while Marty was unconscious in 1985A. From Geno0823 comes Critical Pursuits, in which Doc receives an offer from another world. New writer angelsgirl116 enters fandom with an untitled fic about Marty and Doc's daugher, Emma. needles has Hippie Harvest, in which Marty visits the 1960s. Written as a giftfic for Flaming Trails is Roll Out, a short fic by Ael L. Bolt that crosses over with a surprise fandom.

More giftfics, this time by Flaming Trails, are two untitled pieces: the first involving Sims 2 versions of BTTF characters, and the second involving Marty and his twin. In addition, she has written a request fic entitled Dance Lesson. Also by Flaming Trails are a series of short Christmas fics that deal with most of the twelve days of Christmas: three french hens, four calling birds, six geese a-laying, seven swans a-swimming, eight maids a-milking, nine ladies dancing, ten lords a-leaping, eleven pipers piping and twelve drummers drumming. Along the same theme, George McFly Au has come up with French Hens.

Long time member of BTTF fandom but new writer chrisfardell has written two stories, both as fic requests from LiveJournal: Calvin's Story involving Marty and his twin Calvin, and a short crossover with Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure entitled A Random Meeting. Other new writer purplecat41877 brings The Test, a one-shot fic where Marty goes back in time to stop Needles from cheating on an exam. Also new to fandom is idefine777, who has written Back to the Future: Sarah, about a girl who witnesses the strange happenings of October 26th 1985 at Twin Pines Mall. The fourth and last crossover fic for the past two months is perminet hell valleytokyo by JenniferJaneMcFly, which crosses BTTF with Sailor Moon.

Prolific new writer EmmettMcFly55 has produced eight fics so far: The Junction Point of the Continuum, in which three travellers return to November 12th, 1955 via astral projection; Travelling Through Dimensions, where Doc and Marty go on an interdimensional adventure; Future Travellers: Part 1 where Marty Jr. ends up in 1985A; Back to the 21st Century, involving the Brown family's trip to 2020 to get their train hoverconverted; Into the Future, detailing what happened in Doc's first trip to the future; A Red Letter Year, in which Doc and the McFlys celebrate the arrival of 1985; I Didn't Invent Any Time Machine involving 1985A; and When Something Goes Wrong, a fic inspired by Kristen Sheley's Hill Valley Chronicles, which has Marty accidentally stranded in 1955 at the end of Part 1.

From bttf4444 we have a series of stories involving the extended families of Griff's 2015 gang celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas: Thanksgiving with the Ungers, 1997, Christmas with the Ungers, 2006, Christmas with the O'Malleys, 2016 and Christmas with the Tannens, 2016. Two fics, Cowboy Marty and Teen Wolf Marty have Marty dressing up as Clint Eastwood and Scott Howard respectively for Halloween. In A Night With Friends, the Brown children spend time with their friends in 1985. Adding on to the Haven Universe Chronicles are the short stories Jamie's Conflict, in which an original character thinks about her different timeline lives as Griff Tannen rapes her; Thankful to be Alive, where the McFlys of 2046 celebrate Thanksgiving; and The Value of Family. For NaNoWriMo 2007, she wrote the novella Double Trouble, which has Marty and his twin Calvin taking a trip to the Old West with Doc and Jennifer. Making a wish forces Marty Jr. and his sister Marlene to relive Christmas Eve over and over again in Almost Christmas.

Lastly, we have two new slash fics, a Doc / Marty short entitled Marty's bad day by bttfimjfifan, and the first Griff / Marty Jr. fic in the fandom, Maybe You Are And You Just Don't Know It by newcomer KathyArthur.

CUMULATIVE STATS FOR 2007
Total number of fics: 750
Total number of authors: 179
Total number of crossovers: 35
Total number of slash fics: 70

This is it for 2007. Happy New Year to everyone, and see you in the future.

27th October 2007

Happy belated 26th October to everyone! Early update this month because I've got exams starting in three days. October thus far has brought fourteen new prose fics, as a result of which the number of BTTF fanfic on the web has broken the 700 barrier. \o/

As a run up to the 31st of October, Lisa Moulton has written the short story A Back to the Future Halloween. Meanwhile, new writer Tsukiko loves Eduardo 4 life debuts with Lycans:Blood Rayne, in which Marty McFly turns into a werewolf and has to learn to adjust to his new life. Other newcomer pinglederry has written a short flash fic, Shifting Memories, where George recognises part of his past in his son. By needles, another new writer, is the story Back to the Old West which has the Brown family moving to live in the 1980s.

delorean88 has come up with a sequel to Class Project, entitled Class Reunion in which Marlene McFly and her friend attempt to get back to their future. One slash fic this month, a Doc/Marty piece entitled Marty's thoughts about 1955 by bttfmjfifan.

By bttf4444, who has now authored over a hundred BTTF fanfics, are eight new ones: The Son I Know, where George and Lorraine wonder about their changed son; Separated by Time, a short fic taking place in the Old West about Doc's feelings upon sending off his letter to Marty; A Ticket to the Movies, where a visitor from another universe enters Marty's life; Marlene's Tragedy, where Marlene McFly's daughter learns who her real father is; A Movie Like No Other, in which Marty and Jennifer discuss the film Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure; Time Travel Heroes, a crossover between BTTF and Time After Time; Reality Escape, a crossover with Family Ties and High School USA in which three characters each of Michael J. Fox and Crispin Glover meet and enter a strange world; and lastly another crossover, Bill and Ted's Shocking Expedition, which has Bill and Ted enter the BTTF universe.

Meanwhile, The Prized Time Capsule and The Missing Link, both by bttf4444, have been completed.

There was a mistake involving Lisa Moulton's fics - Infusion is not after all a Doctor Who / BTTF crossover, and has been replaced with Wrath of Caan, which is.

That's it for now; the next update will probably be sometime in mid-December. Until then, good luck for everyone who's participating in NaNoWriMo this year.

1st October 2007

We've got ten new fics this week, all prose. There have been additions to the short story collection Back to the School by bttf4444, about how the Martys in the various different universes adjust to regular life after their time travelling adventures. By the same author are a series of stories - A Bond Like No Other, Christmas Party Disaster, A Very Special Christmas Present, Looking Back and Stage Fright, which involve Marty McFly and his twin, Calvin.

In addition to that, new author bttfimjfifan has written two Doc / Marty slash fics, A summer Dream and The Birthday Gift.

Rounding off this month's new fics is another new writer Geno0823, with Midsommer Lost - a supernatural-themed fic involving a fifteen-year-old Marty McFly.

Meanwhile, the Alice in Wonderland crossover fic, Marty in Wonderland by Flaming Trails, has been completed, as has The Legend of Clint Eastwood by bttf4444.

And that's it for September.
